Alcoa is the world's leading producer and manager of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina facilities, and is active in all major aspects of the industry. Alcoa serves the aerospace, automotive, packaging, building and construction, commercial transportation, and industrial markets, bringing design, engineering, production, and other capabilities of Alcoa’s businesses as a single solution to customers. In addition to aluminum products and components, Alcoa also makes and markets consumer brands including Reynolds Wrap®, Alcoa® wheels, and Baco® household wraps. Among its other businesses are closures, fastening systems, precision castings, and electrical distribution systems for cars and trucks. The company has 116,000 employees in 44 countries.

Alcoa Financial Summary:
Alcoa (NYSE:AA) today reported third quarter income from continuing operations of $558 million, or $0.64 per diluted share. Third quarter income from continuing operations increased three percent from $540 million, or $0.62, in the third quarter of 2006. Income from continuing operations was $716 million, or $0.81, in the second quarter of 2007.

As a result of the Company’s strong capital structure and healthy cash flows, Alcoa’s Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to 25 percent of the company’s outstanding common stock, or approximately 217 million shares. Under the earlier repurchase program, 43 million shares, or approximately five percent, had already been repurchased by the end of the third quarter, leaving the company with authorization to buy back approximately 174 million shares.

Alcoa Inc. (Alcoa) is a producer of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina, and is active in all aspects of the industry, including technology, mining, refining, smelting, fabricating and recycling. Alcoa is a global company operating in 44 countries. In addition, the Company has investments and activities in Australia, Brazil, China, Iceland, Jamaica and Russia. Its operations consist of six business segments: Alumina, Primary Metals, Flat-Rolled Products, Extruded and End Products, Engineered Solutions, and Packaging and Consumer. The Alumina segment primarily consists of a series of affiliated operating entities referred to as Alcoa World Alumina and Chemicals (AWAC). Alcoa owns 60% and Alumina Limited owns 40% of these individual entities. During the year ended December 31, 2006, it consumed 33.9 million metric tons of bauxite from its own reserves, 6.6 million metric tons from related third parties and 3.1 million metric tons from unrelated third parties.  Alcoa was founded in 1888 as Pittsburgh Reduction Company and changed its name to Aluminum Company of America in 1907. Further, the name was changed to Alcoa, Inc. in 1999. The company is based in New York, New York.
